RHETORICAL ANALYSIS 9/21

An ad that caught my eye in the past week is actually an ad we were presented with weeks ago. When we were first assigned to watch this ad and see how it appeals to audiences, it tugged at my heart strings, bringing back my very recent high school memories, seeing as I graduated this past May. Just a few days ago, some friends and I were reminiscing on high school and I thought back to this video and decided to watch it again, and no surprise, it made me emotional the second time around. In my opinion, this ad is the perfect example of an advertisement that makes use of the pathos appeal. It is not too emotional, no one's dying and no animals are being harmed, but it is emotional in the fact that evokes a response from viewers. Almost everyone goes through high school (hopefully), and this video causes viewers to remember their times back in high school fondly, seeing as the people in the video are mostly happy. It also causes younger viewers to get excited for what is to come during those four years we all anticipated at some point. Personally, I enjoyed high school and made friends and memories that are irreplaceable to me, and this kind of advertisement resonates well with those who are similar to me.
The point of this advertisement is to show that Google is always there for people and can help solve any form of an issue. High school is a period of time in which many things start to change and in this advertisement problems are presented, solutions to them are searched on Google, and miraculously, these problems are solved, clearly thanks to Google. This advertisement is endearing and causes viewers to look fondly at the Google corporation after creating such a touching video.
