
As entertainment grows within society, as has reality television and the following it has gained. Considering this, it is often times difficult to distinguish between the real and the fake behavior presented to the world on reality television and the implications this perceived behavior has on viewers. The truth behind the screen can be examined using reality TV shows such as Survivor, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Big Brother and The Bachelor/Bachelorette, uncovering the effects reality TV has on behavior. Through careful research using peer-reviewed sources, it has become clear that reality TV has evolved into a scripted version of reality, using fantastical elements and manipulated scenes to keep viewers watching and influence them relay profit to producers and casts alike. While there is evidence of people knowing the difference between what is fake and real, they still continue to indulge in scripted "reality" TV, giving the producers what they want. Different instances of reality shows being exposed for what they really are and exploring their motives will be displayed.
